In Paradis at the Historic and Iconic House of Cognac Hennessy

Walking through the grounds of the innovative and forward thinking House of Hennessy it becomes evident that the largest cognac producer in the world is deep rooted in its heritage. Cognac Hennessy, which was founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy, accounts for approximately 50% of all cognac sales across the world. Over two centuries later, Hennessy, which according to experts was the pioneer of the global cognac trade, is showing no signs of slowing down. Through artist collaborations, an estimated 10,000 events around the world and close to 5 million social media followers, this historic house continues to find new ways to grow and share their brand.

Hennessy V.S. (Very Special), the most popular cognac in the world, is the perfect example of how this storied house embraces its heritage. Although its bottle breaks from tradition with its sleek design, its label showcases the Maison's coat-of-arms to highlight the military service of Richard Hennessy along with a grapevine wreath to remind people that cognac is made from grapes. This iconic design is also showcased in engraved crystal on their elegant X.O. (Extra Old) bottle which was the first of its kind.

Situated along the Charente River, in the historic Town of Cognac, this massive property is a joy to explore. Across the river from their headquarters, you can find some of its cellars, including one of their iconic Paradis Cellars in which you can discover centuries old eaux-de-vie. Exploring these cellars puts in perspective the historic significance of this magnificent spirit and how Maison Hennessy has been at the forefront of it all.

Our visit to Hennessy concluded with a tasting that was fascinating. During this experience, we got to taste and appreciate eaux-de-vie from 2005, 1996 and 1965. The highlight of the tasting was the opportunity to enjoy the iconic Hennessy Paradis which is crafted from some of the finest and rarest eaux-de-vie from the Maison. Fragrant, with beautiful hints of roses on the nose and smooth notes of honey and spices on the palate, this seductive cognac is one that we wish to have the privilege to enjoy again.

The commitment to hospitality and attention to details during our visit was absolutely incredible. We hope that you have the opportunity to visit this iconic House and like us get to feel like you are in Paradis.
