Family owned for five generations, Cognac Jean Fillioux is still going strong and producing award winning cognacs. Founded in 1880 by Honoré Fillioux, in Grande Champagne and in the heart of Cognacs Golden Triangle, Domaine de la Pouyade remains to this day the home of Cognac Jean Fillioux. Surrounded by 63 acres of vines and neighboring Hennessy, Rémy Martin and Grey Goose Vodka, Jean Fillioux is considered to be by many one of the most sought after Grande Champagne cognacs.
Grande Champagne with its chalky soil, is known as the Premier Cru de Cognac. Made with grapes solely from this Cru, Jean Fillioux only offers cognacs from the prestigious Premier Cru de Cognac. As you can imagine this helps them consistently produce some of the finest cognacs.
Today, Christophe Fillioux, is responsible for carrying the family tradition. Filled with pride from what his family has accomplished, Christophe humbly showed us around their beautiful manor which also serves as the family home. Involved in every aspect of the business, Christophe maintains the family customs and at the same time writes his own chapter in the Jean Fillioux annals.
Rustic, compact and beautiful, their cellars give you a clear sense of how limited their production is. We were fortunate to conclude our visit tasting five of their limited and beautifully crafted 1er Cru cognacs. Their Cep d'Or with its fragrant flower aromas and delightful fruit forward palate was our favorite but you can't go wrong when choosing from any of them.
If you are looking for artisan cognacs, you should give Cognac Jean Fillioux a try. Over 100 years of family tradition fill every bottle of their unique cognacs and you are the recipient of this French delicacy with every sip.
